How to Choose a Tour
Deciding to visit Prince Edward Island is one thing, but with so many tours available, it’s natural to feel overwhelmed. The first decision is whether to join a group tour, travel independently, opt for an all-inclusive package tour, or create a completely customized itinerary from scratch. Once you start considering all the possibilities, the choices can seem endless.
Another point to consider is the best time to visit. While this depends on personal preferences, the most suitable period for sightseeing is from late May to mid-October. Planning your trip to coincide with the flower or foliage seasons can be a wonderful idea. For reference, the flower calendar in the top-right corner of this page displays the blooming and foliage times. (Clicking it will open in a new window.)
The advantage of group tours is the peace of mind that comes with having a tour guide, making them ideal for those who are completely new to international travel. Additionally, many group tours are relatively budget-friendly, which can be a great option for travelers concerned about costs.
Group tours are perfect for those who want to efficiently visit major attractions within a short timeframe. However, keep in mind that some tours may have limited time on Prince Edward Island or offer little free time. For travelers who prefer a more in-depth and leisurely experience, this might not be the best fit.
For individual travel, there are package tours that include pre-arranged itineraries, as well as options that combine just airfare and hotel accommodations, leaving most of your time free to explore on your own.
If you choose an all-inclusive package, you can rest assured that all the main attractions will be covered. This is ideal if you don’t have specific requests and prefer to leave the planning to the travel company. Additionally, once you arrive, local support staff, such as our Japanese-speaking guides, will provide detailed assistance, giving you peace of mind during your trip.
However, please note that these packages typically do not include an accompanying tour escort. For example, airport transfers or connections may need to be managed independently at times. This option is best decided based on your travel experience and budget.
If you choose a package tour that focuses on free activities, the first step is to determine how many days you can participate in the tour. For tours departing from Japan and staying exclusively on Prince Edward Island, flights typically involve a connection in Toronto or Montreal, meaning you’ll arrive on the island at midnight. On the return trip, you’ll likely have an early morning departure to catch your connecting flight back to Japan.
For example, a tour with 3 nights on the island (5 days in total including flight time) leaves you with only 2 full days to explore! If your schedule allows, we strongly recommend choosing a tour with at least 4 nights on the island, giving you a solid 3 full days to enjoy your stay and experience more of what the island has to offer.
One of the most common questions we receive from our customers is, "Which tour should I choose?" If you’re unsure, the Anne Tour is a must! Even if you’re not a fan of Anne of Green Gables, this tour includes the island’s top attraction, Green Gables House, which you simply can’t miss.
Lunch features the island’s specialty, fresh lobster, and the scenic drive along the North Shore offers some of the most picturesque views on the island. This tour is sure to satisfy your expectations.
If you’d like to explore additional optional tours on your free days, please refer to the suggestions below. You can book any of these tours directly through your travel agency when purchasing your package, or you’re more than welcome to book directly with us!
Our company offers two main types of tours: shared tours and private tours.
For shared tours, pick-up and drop-off are available only at major accommodations. On the other hand, private tours include pick-up and drop-off directly at your hotel, ensuring maximum convenience.
Please make sure to confirm the departure time when making your reservation.
Our optional (shared) tours are scheduled daily or on specific days of the week, offering an efficient way to explore the island’s many attractions by bus. Since these tours involve shared transportation with other guests, they are available at a reasonable price.
Please note that pick-up and drop-off are limited to major accommodations. Unfortunately, we cannot provide this service for locations such as Airbnb properties, homestay addresses, or the airport. We appreciate your understanding in this matter.
Private tours are tailored to your preferences and conducted in a dedicated vehicle, allowing you to spend as much time as you like at your chosen destinations. The flexibility to customize your schedule is a unique advantage of private car tours.
Our experienced staff will assist you in planning your trip, ensuring that whether you choose a full-day or half-day tour, or prefer a tour with only an English-speaking driver, you can enjoy the experience with peace of mind.
We also offer reservations for the highly popular Anne & Gilbert musicals. For more details, please refer to the options page.
Finally, a valuable piece of advice: While we’re thrilled to have you join many of our tours, we also encourage you to take some time during your trip to leisurely explore, perhaps take a moment to simply gaze at the sea, and truly experience Prince Edward Island. It’s the perfect way to enjoy the island’s unique charm and beauty!
